Compton comes highly recommended as a mooring spot. It may not look too much in this photo, but the visitor moorings extend quite a way and it's easily possible to get away from the road. Once a village, but nowadays more an up-market suburb, it has a chandlery, too good supermarkets - one privately owned, the other a Spar, two pubs, which between them cater for most tastes, restaurants, a fish and chip shop, a chemist, laundrette and a frequent bus service into Wolverhampton. There's no water point or service station but that means it's less of a magnet for continuous moorers and means more space on the visitor moorings for passing boats.
The only thing it doesn't have is a decent internet signal, but if you are reading this then it's been adequate even if I have had to post from the counter step!
