Boat Variety on the Fossdyke and Witham

You certainly come across a great variety of craft on these waters. Cruisers a-plenty of course, some of them sea-going; a few narrowboats; kayaks and rowing boats  and a few others. . .

Trip Boats, like the Boston Belle at the Grand Sliuce

Open boats like this one at Saxilby

and exactly how do you overtake a dinghy that's tacking upstream ahead of you?

Tricky, especially where the waterway is not as wide as the lower reaches of the Thames. There, a couple of years ago, even with the extra water, sailing dinghies seemed to delight in heading for a certain collision with us only to turn away at the last second.
