Locks: From Feast to famine

After yesterday's lockfest at Wigan the contrast today couldn't be greater.  A completely flat run along the L&L and the Bridgwater Canal to Manchester. In all honesty it's a fairly boring section of the cut, with the obvious exceptions of Worsley ("where it all began") and the passage of the Barton Swing Aqueduct over the Manchester Ship Canal. We made the trip non-stop as I was anxious to get to Manchester in time to get a mooring in the Grocers' Warehouse Arm at Castlefield, which is so much nicer than the alternative round by the YHA.  In the event we got there mid-afternoon and found one of the last remaining slots. Many of my favourite Manchester pubs are within easy walking distance of Castlefield so later on we went for a stroll!
