I've been waiting for it and this afternoon it came. . .the 'phone call from Dave at Uplands Basin. The surveyor has been round today to look at the hull and give Dave, and me, a report on the hull condition so that we both know what needs to be done before the 2-pack expoxy is applied.
Fortunately, it's good news. The pitting is localised and not over-extensive. Dave can sort it out in a few hours, otherwise the hull is in good condition.
After twenty-three years and several owners who may or may not have been scrupulous about maintenance it could have been a lot worse.

That's good news. I guess it also bodes well for the rest of us with boats that aren't getting any younger.
