Last of the Summer Steam Trains

Since mid-July, Wednesdays in Lancaster have been enlivened by the passage of "The Fellsman" excursion train, steam hauled to Carlisle via the Settle & Carlisle line. Yesterday, as a sign that summer is coming to an end, saw the final run of the season. The driver of the very last departure from Lancaster, ECS ("empty coaching stock") to Carnforth depot, is seen here ready for the off.
It's not quite the end for steam as there is a special visitor due through next Wednesday, which I'll tell you about at the time.
